Dana’s Story: After years of trying every diet on the planet I decided to go back to Akins for a 2nd time But I was going do it the “Healthy” way. Low fat! I had the Atkins book, I had done it before, but got scared out of it because of all the fat fears and it being unhealthy. BUT, I never read the book, I just flipped back to the diet.

This time I wanted to know why it worked, so I started the diet again and started reading at the same time. I was sick of counting carbs, calories, steps, points, etc so I just ate things I knew didn’t have any carbs….meat, cheese, eggs, sausage. But, I was eating low fat, because it’s healthier. Lol

I felt tired and I think I even gained a few pounds. Then I got to this part of the book and the rest is history. Atkins says if you are not losing you are not eating “luxuriously” enough! And he was right! It is still the overwhelming #1 reason people don’t do well on this diet.

I started pigging out on fatty meats and ate all I wanted to eat. I had to eat my way through carb cravings. I ate a lot. After 10 days I felt like a new person. I looked like I lost 15 lbs, but it was mostly what I call “carb puff”, water weight.

I lost 50 lbs eating all I could eat of meat, fat and zero carb foods.
I no longer have life long digestive issues, no more brain fog, joint pain, anxiety or insomnia.

Elizabeths Story: Once I got my growth spurt in junior high I was always the big girl, the last one picked for any team sports. I wasn’t fat but I was always 20 to 30 lb heavier than any girls my height.

I found Atkins in the ’70s and dropped 50 lb from my weight of 200 for my wedding in 1978. Once I started having my children in the ’80s and ’90s I quickly added on baby weight that just never left. I could always go back to Atkins or restrict or fast and lose 20 lb pretty quickly but it never stuck.

Finally nearing my ’60s I knew I had to do something when I was at 250 lb so I decided to go back on Atkins but everybody was doing keto. Working with my doctor and adjusting my thyroid meds. I had about a 30 lb weight loss on keto over a year and a half but it was frustrating. I kept restricting and restricting and was plateaued at 1,500 calories.

I heard about these people that only ate meat and decided I could do that for 30 days and just see what happened. Fortunately, I found zeroing in on health and zero carb health and Dana and Charles Washington and Kelly and the others were “The Voice of Clarity” that I needed.

I quickly gained 8 lb my first month which was a little scary, but the veterans reminded me that I had been restricting and had down regulated my metabolism so I finally took their advice to eat more. At about the 6-month mark, I started eating 3 lbs of meat a day for almost the rest of the year and saw a quick 10 lb weight loss.

The first 6 weeks of overeating I was convinced that this was the way to go. I’ve had periods for example year 3 to year 4 where I lost 0 lb but I dropped 3 inches in my waist and two sizes in my jeans. And now at the age of 70 I’ve lost a total of 85 lb. I have more energy and mental capacity than I have in decades. I don’t tell people I eat a carnivore diet. It’s like being a Christian, I am a carnivore. 🙂  I even insisted my doctor put that I’m allergic to sugar in my medical file in case I ever wound up in an emergency room.
